Perspective from the Spring 2023 Cohort
As a cohort of Asian American professionals, I felt kinship and understanding of others’ experiences even though our respective lives, upbringing, and influences were different. As a result, I gained clarity and perspective on how I can lead myself and support others with similar or different leadership voices. This knowledge helps me to be versatile and more capable of adapting to situations and personalities in a professional, social, and even personal setting.

Discover Your Leadership Voice
Learn the 5 Voices, celebrate the value of each, and identify your natural Leadership Voice. This session opens the door to understanding your natural strengths. You will leave this session being able to lean in with confidence to your natural abilities and articulate those skills to position yourself strategically for a promotion or a new job.

Optimize Team Performance with the Support Challenge Matrix
Learn how to create team alignment and synergy by harnessing the contribution of all 5 Voices. Enhance your inclusive leadership skills by learning to use the support challenge matrix.

Triggers and Weapons
Learn the negative impact your Voice can have on others when not being intentional. Leave with specific action items to grow as an inclusive, liberating leader for others.

The Peace Index
Feeling stressed but unsure why? Or, have you struggled to make changes to improve how you feel? With the Peace Index, you'll learn a simple tool to analyze the primary areas that influence our feelings. You can similarly use this tool to help your team or direct reports identify barriers to feeling equity, inclusion, and belonging at work.

The Process
Become the Leader Others Want to Follow
Step 1: INFORMING
You will have access to our partner's video library on GiANT TV. In your own time, you will navigate a short, self-guided course of study. This will include short videos and simple worksheets you can watch as many times as you want, when you want. This will help you have some background prior to our discussion in Step 2. In addition to the videos specific to this cohort, you will have access to hundreds of leadership videos to provide additional support during this journey.
Step 2: TRAINING
After watching the videos you will join a Live Module Session to review the material taught. Through this interactive webinar you are encouraged to ask the instructor questions and discuss the application of the material to your own life. We will work through participant leadership challenges applying the module lessons into transformative results. The goal is to successfully apply the information.
Why an Asian Cohort?
As Asian professionals working in a Western organizational context, we often experience the "bamboo ceiling". This ceiling represents the barriers that we face in advancing to senior leadership positions in Western contexts.
Some factors that contribute to the bamboo ceiling include cultural stereotypes and biases, lack of representation in leadership positions, language and communication barriers, and a perception of Asians as being better suited for technical or support roles rather than leadership roles.
We also may also face pressure to conform to traditional Eastern cultural expectations which can be seen as conflicting with leadership qualities such as assertiveness and risk-taking, valued in the West.
The bamboo ceiling has implications not only for us as Asian professionals, but also for the organizations we work for as they may miss out on diverse perspectives and ideas that could contribute to organizational success.

Get Help from Your Employer to Pay For the Training
The GiANT 5 Voices training certification comes with a fee the facilitators must pay annually to remain qualified to teach these workshops. To re-coup our costs we charge for this 5-series workshop; however, we have reduced the charge from $800 pp to $150 pp because we believe in the mission of NAAAP.
We understand that the cost of this leadership training may be prohibitive for you personally to pay. So, we encourage you to consider asking your employer to pay your registration or reimburse you.
